When I graduated from college, I continued practicing what I learned about advertising and marketing by volunteering with friends. They weren’t anything spectacular, but the feedback and outcomes were positive.
In 2014, I was asked to create a quick advertisement for the 501st Legion, using the previous year’s ad as a template and improving it. This was a temporary, but memorable chance to give back to the 501st as their PR representative’s son was dealing with cancer at the time.
I have friends who are also heavily involved with the St. Baldrick’s Foundation. I was again asked if I could update/improve the previous year’s design, so I kept it simple, and the responses were positive. Basic lesson: You don’t have to reinvent the wheel every time.
